All Things BHS Show choir

Brandon High School is known throughout the state and nation for its many successful teams and organizations. However, a little-known fact within the school is that Brandon High School’s two show choirs, Brio and Bellas, are two of Brandon’s most nationally acclaimed groups. Brio and Bellas are two of the most esteemed groups in the nation- most recently ranked 17th nationally in Varsity Mixed Groups by HomeRoom Show Choir. In the 2021-2022 competition season, Brio had a record-breaking season, receiving four Grand Champion awards. In 2022-2023, they broke that record again, receiving four Grand Champion Full sweeps, meaning they won every single award possible at the Jackson prep show choir masters, Enterprise Southland Classic, Petal Show Choir Invitational, and the Madison Central Deep South Classic.

Brio and Bellas have competed in five competitions so far this season. They opened up the season with the Jackson Prep Show Choir Masters, where Bellas received Second Runner-up overall, Brio received First Runner-up, Best Show Design, and Best Performer (Chad Bynum). Print’s very own Layout Editor, Carsen Flowers, won Solo Competition Grand Champion They then competed at the Jackson Academy Show Choir Invitational, where Brio received First Runner-up, Best Choreography, and Best Show Design. The following weekend, Brio and Bellas traveled to the Northeast Jones Show Choir Classic where Bellas received 2nd Runner-up Overall as well as Best Performer (Ashlynn Witt), and Brio received a Grand Champion Full Sweep with Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Show Design, and Best Performer (Chad Bynum), alongside a First Runner-up in Solo Competition from Print journalism’s very own Carsen Flowers, and a Grand Champion Solo Competition Award for Print’s very own Editor in Chief, Camden Flowers!

The following weekend, our show choir traveled to Chesterton, Indiana, where they competed against one of the top 5 groups in the nation, the Carmel Ambassadors. Bellas received First Runner-up in their division and Best Performer courtesy of Prints Journalism’s Brogan Puckett, and Brio received First Runner-up Overall with Best Crew, Best Costumes, and Best Choreography with Best Performer (Camden Flowers). While in Indiana, Camden Flowers received Solo Competition Grand Champion for the female division, and sophomore writer Case Farnham received Solo Competition Grand Champion for the Male division. Most recently, Brio and Bellas competed at the Petal Show Choir Invitational, where Bellas received First Place in their division, and Brio received 2nd Runner-up as well as Best Soloist in a Show (Case Farnham). We wish Brio and Bellas the best of luck as they travel to Tifton, Georgia, to compete at the Tift County Peach State Invitational.
