Hi! I am Carsen Flowers, a senior writer and the layout director for our BHS newspaper! Technically, this is my first year in print journalism, but I have had many unique opportunities. As layout director, I create our PDF layout and make most of the creative choices with colors, pictures, and gathering information for our “This or That” column. Beyond that, I have enjoyed getting to know every member of our staff and learning more about our school. This year, I have worked alongside my twin sister, Camden Flowers, our Editor in Chief. She has worked tirelessly with our staff to make this year the most professional and accomplished. Under her leadership, our paper won the Best in Show award from the Mississippi Scholastic Press Association. Watching her grow as a leader and usher in a new era of excellence for this program has been inspiring. This program also allowed me to make a two-page memorial for my best friend, Griffin Mangum. He worked as the managing editor and cared so much about these papers. In the fall, I will attend Mississippi College with an intended major in psychology. I am forever thankful for BHS print journalism for giving me new opportunities and a chance to make something I am proud of!
