The Brandon High School Band turns heads with its 2023 show: Caged! The show’s music, props, and movements dealt with trapped emotions and the need or desire to be released. The Bulldog marching band performs at every football game and numerous performances at elementary schools, community events, and pep rallies. This fall, the band hosted the CD Hagan Invitational at BHS. Mr. Hagan was a long-time band director throughout the 80s-90s. Following his retirement, he continued to come to practices and offered his advice. Though he sadly passed away, he made a lasting impact on the program, school, and community. On September 30th, the band traveled to Ridgeland HS to attend the Titan Invitational. The band earned 2nd in the blue division and 3rd place overall. On October 7th, the band traveled to Pearl for the MHSAA Region IV festival. The band earned ALL Superior during the Festival portion, finishing 4th place in the Pirate Invitational. On October 14th, the band traveled to Mobile, AL, for the University of South Alabama competition, where they achieved all superior rankings and 2nd overall. Lastly, the band completed the season by competing in the 7A MHSAA State Championships at Northwest Rankin on October 21st. There, they placed 11th. The band will also perform a Christmas concert and spring concert at the Brandon Christmas Parade and the Mardi Gras Parade! The band program includes the Marching Band, Concert Bands, Jazz Band, and Indoor Ensembles.
