This month, from September 15th to October 15th, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month. The month honors the achievements and history of people with Latin or Spanish heritage throughout Central and South America. The celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week but was expanded to a month-long event in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan. September 15th to October 15th was chosen explicitly because many Latin-American countries’ independence days fall within this period, such as Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Chile, and more. Most people celebrate this month through parades, festivals, and art exhibits. How did you celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month?
