On September 22nd, 32 Homecoming Maids took to the field at Bulldog Stadium. The senior maids lined up, fingers crossed, hoping to hear their name called for Homecoming Queen. As an imaginary drum roll played in everyone’s heads and the cheers came to a suspenseful halt, the name Meri Morgan Marshall rang throughout the stadium’s speakers. Moments later, Dr. Bryan Marshall crowned the Queen, as he always does; however, it was a little more special this time. “Hearing my name announced as Homecoming Queen is something I’ll never forget,” she stated in an interview, “Seeing the community come together for the parade, pep rally, and football game” is special. “Brandon is special.” While the culture of our town can’t be illustrated in just a few simple words, one thing is sure: Meri Morgan will always love her “home away from home”.
