Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated between September 15 – October 15, is designated to celebrate the heritage and contributions of Hispanic Americans. September 15 marks the anniversary of the independence of the Latin American nations of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Some traditions include preparing traditional Hispanic meals at home, passing down musical traditions such as Mariachi Music, and spending time with family celebrating prominent holidays such as Semana Santa and Cinco de Mayo. Latinos and Latinas continue to highly represent Americans today as business owners, entrepreneurs, activists, and more. Hispanic Heritage Month intends to raise awareness of the trials and tribulations of Hispanic individuals and their accomplishments.
