The Clock has Struck!
Band Showcase

Welcome back, Bulldogs! Last month, on August 8th, the Brandon High School Band presented their 2024 marching show for the first time at our football field. Their program this year is named “When the Clock Strikes”, a show with a fast-paced and steampunk-esque aesthetic representing a tale through the eyes of a person in the world always chasing the one thing that can not come back, TIME. Through trials, issues, and accomplishments our life is always in constant motion, which is represented by the gears, symbols, and sounds that happen throughout the show. In life, we are all in motion until the time when the “clock strikes” until the final time. Life is a grind, with peaks and valleys, but we must always push ahead for when we stop chasing time, and when our clock will strike for the final time.  The band will be using a variety of different props to portray the theme of the show, including gears, cogs, and massive clocks. This year, Mr. Edwards and Mrs. Green will continue instructing the band, as well as 3 new directors teaching and several others assisting to make the show as exceptional as possible.

Kevin Mullen joined the Brandon staff, graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a music education degree. He wrote this year’s marching show and is working hard behind the scenes to make the music sound flawless.

JD Dunklee went to Tupelo High School and graduated from University of Southern Mississippi with a music education degree. Mr. Dunklee helps with all things related to percussion, whether that be with drumline or the front ensemble. He has helped with Oak Grove High School and other amazing groups.

Breelyn Hamblin went to Pontotoc High School and graduated from University of Mississippi with a music education degree. Although Mrs. Hamblin focuses on guiding students who play a low brass instrument. She also helps with the Color Guard and has several years of experience accompanying Markus Edwards, the head director of the Brandon High School Band, with a traveling state program called Lions Band.

We are glad to see Mr. Edwards and Mrs. Green again this year, and are more than happy to welcome all three new directors to Brandon High School! We look forward to having an amazing year with them!
