The Brandon Bulldog Band’s marching show theme for 2023 is “Caged.” The music, movements, and props depict students caged and fighting to get out. They are dealing with their emotions, needing and desiring to be released. During each performance, the music represents feelings of being caged and freed and the internal battle of their emotions. The marching band performs at every football game to support our bulldogs, and they also perform at numerous elementary schools, community events, and pep rallies.
This fall, the band hosted the CD Hagan Invitational at BHS, with twenty high school bands from around central MS attending the competition. On September 30th, the band traveled to Ridgeland HS to attend the Titan Invitational and earned 2nd in the blue division and 3rd place overall. On October 7th, the band traveled to Pearl for the MHSAA Region IV festival, where they earned ALL Superior during the Festival portion that afternoon and proceeded to finish 4th place overall in the Pirate Invitational. On October 14th, the band traveled to Mobile, AL, for the University of South Alabama competition. The band finished the contest with all superior ratings, 1st place for colorguard in their class and 2nd place overall. The band finished their competition season by competing in the 7A MHSAA State Championships at Northwest Rankin on October 21st, where they achieved 11th place. Later this year, the band will perform Christmas and Spring concerts at the Brandon Christmas Parade and the Mardi Gras Parade! The band program includes the Marching Band, Concert Bands, Jazz Band, and Indoor Ensembles.
