Every year, a time comes when students realize that the people who made such an impact on them and their lives are leaving. In this inevitable event of life, Finale holds a special place in the hearts of many show choir families and alumni; a final goodbye to the graduating class. Over April, students work to embody a show from past years to symbolize the time spent with Brandon Show Choir Association. This tradition, called “Rewind,” features a flashback to the senior’s freshman year show, as well as pieces from their favorite themes. Though this time is often stressful for students who are packing for exams and finishing out Dual Credit courses, underclassmen also come to the realization that the students of the senior class are embarking on their final leg of high school. Before the event, high school students file into the choir room to hear one last goodbye speech from their seniors. While Mr. Woodward closely records each senior’s speech, this family of students recalls the good, bad, drama, heartache, and, most importantly, the year’s hard work.
Finale was held from the first through the third of May. This year opened with High School’s Rewind, expressing the themes ‘A Space Odyssey,’ ‘Higher,’ and ‘Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.’ Following would be Middle School Rewind with ‘Elevate,’ ‘Let’s go to the mall,’ and ‘Footloose.’ At Finale, BSCA not only displays this year’s outstanding groups but also a sneak peek into the 2026 groups with their audition song. Nearing intermission, parents and audience members get one last look at Brandon Middle School’s Blitz and Boom’s shows: “Weather” and “Board Games.” Finally, after intermission, Brandon High School Bellas reopens the show with “Bridezellas,’ soon after, Brio finishes out the night with their competition set ‘G.O.A.T..’. On the final night, students sing their ‘Senior Song’ and give the audience a glimpse of their future by stating their plans for college and careers. And finally, to close out the evening with a long-held tradition, the curtains close, and seniors line the front of the stage, beginning with ‘Your Song’ by Elton John. Emotions flood the room when the curtains open again, with every Brandon Show Choir Association member standing behind the seniors, singing along with them for the last time. Unofficially, students often find themselves running to their most influential person. This moment is one of the most emotional and candid moments of the year. Finale will forever be remembered by those present because of its impact on students, parents, administrators, and anyone lucky to be in such a surreal moment.
