The Brandon Scarlet Winterguard team has been crafting their indoor performance for the season since this winter. Their performance is to a cover of “Stand by Me” and is designed to represent a wedding ceremony. The show features church pews and an altar to create the atmosphere of a church. While there is no designated bride character, the intention is to invite the audience to take on the role of the bride. The show creates a sweet mood for the crowd while they enjoy watching the soft pink flags spin with the coordinated movement of the rifles. This team has participated in a total of six competitions. They’ve been able to travel to Collierville, Tennessee, and have Championships at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. The high school Winterguard team, along with the JV team, was honored to be invited to perform in a showcase hosted at Hinds Community College. They were also pleased to present their show at Brandon High School Winter Court, along with Brandon Indoor Winds and Indoor Percussion. The Brandon Bands hosted a showcase the last week of March for family and friends to watch all indoor groups perform before the Championships competition. Throughout this season, Scarlet Guard has acquired exceptional scores and even placed 3rd at Neshoba Central High School. It is a bittersweet feeling that this season has come to an end. As we watch our six seniors, one being the head captain of the past two years, Landry Porter, prepare for graduation, leaving their high school winter guard career behind, they happily walk down the aisle to a new season of their lives. “Stand by Me” has brought this amazing team together as a family and closer to first place.
