On January 13th, 2025, the White House announced the 2021-2023 recipients of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), which is the highest recognition that a K-12 science, technology, engineering, or mathematics teacher can receive. Brandon High School’s very own Kenneth Peagler was named a 2021 awardee for science. There are up to three candidates from each state and jurisdiction and only 110 recipients per year. To fill out an application, teachers must submit an essay and teaching video, three recommendations, and additional information about the teacher and their class. After the candidates submit their applications, the National Science Foundation selects the recipients. We are so proud of Mr. Peagler and we are honored to have such established teachers and wonderful opportunities provided by them at BHS!
