As each year approaches, high school students face a critical decision about choosing the right classes that will not only fulfill academic requirements, but also shape their future success. Expectedly, this time is a stressful moment for everyone. What classes should people take? Are there any classes that should be avoided? All students, especially Freshmen, struggle with knowing what classes they need to take to be the position they want to be in after they graduate.
Earlier this month, I sent out a survey to every BHS student regarding their schedules, and these are the results. According to students, some of the most beneficial classes to take include English classes and electives, such as AP Seminar. Additionally, science and health classes are viewed as crucial for many students. High-level classes, such as dual credit and AP, are recommended by some, but seen as too difficult by others.
Regardless of what others say here at Brandon High School, students should take the classes that they believe will help them most in the future. If you plan on going into a certain field after high school, I encourage you to see if there are classes at BHS that would help you in that field later on. Furthermore, our school counselors are here to help you and welcome any questions that you may have, so don’t be afraid to ask them! Brandon offers a wide range of classes, so take advantage of the opportunities you are given and invest in your future.
