Brandon High School’s very own theater program is proudly making progress in creating their own legacy. With the leadership of Director Mark Lunsford, the theater team has made immense growth over the past couple of years, as well as in this year alone. Not only does Director Lunsford lead an award-winning competitive cast to numerous events, he also multitasks producing school plays and shows hosted here at BHS. Moreover, Mr. Lunsford also created the first ever multicultural theater class at Brandon. During the cast’s competitive season, they have grasped numerous accomplishments and awards. This includes Anton Taylor Jr., being named “Best Actor In A Leading Role” in a performance of The Diviners, as well as having other BHS students named members of their “All Star Cast” at MTA. They will be performing this outstanding show at the National Association for Dramatic and Speech Arts in April, an invitation only event. Yet their achievements do not end there. Director Lunsford has called for his Juniors and Seniors to audition for scholarships at Ole Miss’s “Open Hour,” taking place at the end of February. While this is an excellent opportunity for many cast members, there has already been a multitude of scholarships introduced to these young actors and actresses. Director Lunsford and his cast have had a year to remember, and they continue in their efforts. With an upcoming attendance at Thescon in Meridian and a recently announced spring play in their future, this group’s hard work takes after that of the person who guides them, Director Mark Lunsford.
