This month, Brandon’s very own A cappella groups, Brilliance and B-19, released their first official album: Chasing Evergreen. Not only does this album stand as a major accomplishment for the arts at Brandon, but it also honors and recognizes the heavily loved life of Griffin Mangum.
Last year, on November 23, a beloved student at Brandon High passed away. The entirety of Brandon’s student body was hit by an incredibly unexpected wave of grief. Whether they were close with Griffin or not, they were able to experience the amount of love he brought to the table through the amount of love people were pouring out towards his loss. A cappella has emphasized the importance of this album in representing, not only Griffin, but the “raw emotions of grief, longing, and enduring love that remains even after someone has passed[-]” as put by Brandon’s A cappella.
We are incredibly proud of the A cappella groups for fighting grief in such a beautiful way, as well as the rest of Brandon that has supported such. Although many choose to see grief as something that hurts, this album, as well as the love that has been found through Griffin’s passing, is proof of the love that continues to stand long after loss.
