Brandon basketball has been an integral part of the student body for generations. Everyone looks forward to the basketball season with its big crowds, themed games, and $1 tickets (with a student ID) for winter court, regardless of age. Boys basketball finished their season 18-12, finishing 2nd in the region. Girls basketball finished the season 13-15. People might not notice beyond the court the outstanding bonds, traditions, and unique opportunities these teams foster off the field. The girls’ team has developed new ways to strengthen their bonds. “This year we started a tradition of a ‘lock in’. We do it right before the season starts, and we stay out all night with the whole team. This helps us bond and have a good time before the season starts.” – Erin Huddleston. They also highlight individual players on Instagram with the title “Lady Dog of the Week. “The girls ended their season in the first round of the MHSAA Championships, falling to Biloxi. The boy’s basketball team closed their season at the 2024 MHSAA Championship, where they fell short of Clinton. Many students were granted excused absences to attend the game, and many teachers even paused their classwork to support the team online. Congratulations to these outstanding teams and the extraordinary coaches!
