For generations, women have been overlooked, pushed to the side, and marginalized. Despite the oppression women have experienced throughout history, they have still paved the way for innovation and efficiently surpassing the men in their fields. Femininity has proven itself to be versatile; women all across the globe have balanced the pursuit of equality with family obligations. For centuries, women have strived for perfection on an unfair playing field, opening up limitless opportunities for young girls over the years. From Joan of Arc to Marie Curie, the sky is the limit for what women can achieve—women’s History Month started in the 1850s, with female factory workers staging a protest against their unjust working conditions. However, the month itself was officially established in the 1980s. In 1987, then-president Jimmy Carter declared the month of March Women’s History Month, following a proposal by the National Women’s History Project. Since then, the Month of March has been a month to honor the contributions of history’s most resilient women.
